For the more technically minded, a good option for data security is a copy of the data in the garage or another out-building that will be safe if the house burns.

Pros:
The data remains under your control, and handy.
It is a close, high-bandwidth (read: fast) connection.
No fees.

Con:
Technically complex to set up and maintain
Cost of equipment and cabling
Needs to be power on to the out-building
You take responsibility for it working: check it regularly and test the copied data

You will need:
1) backup or data replication software to send the copy
2) a PC and hardrive in the out-building
3) a LAN installed on both machines
4) a physical connection. You can run a network cable out to the building or you can use wireless. A cable will give you much faster network speeds but of course it needs to be installed.
